Abstract Classification List

The EUROSENSORS 2009 conference invites contributions describing the latest scientific and technological research results in subjects including, but not restricted to:

  1. Design, modeling, simulation, and theoretical concepts (validation is essential).
    Theoretical concepts in sensing, actuation and system integration, mathematical analysis, synthesis and analysis methods, design techniques for devices and systems, modeling approaches with experimental verification, finite element analysis, computer simulation, CAD tools.
  2. Materials and device characterization
    Novel functional materials, materials under new operating conditions, material characterization, interaction of materials, measurement of material properties, novel characterization techniques for devices, calibration and compensation, failure analysis, degradation mechanisms and drift, reliability.
  3. Fabrication and packaging technologies
    Technology oriented: deposition, growth, coating techniques, etching processes, ion-beam processing, FIB, e-beam techniques, micromachining techniques, bottom up structuring (nano imprinting, self-assembly, structured growth), surface modification, micro assembly, 3-D fabrication (including wafer bonding, bonding and interconnects), process integration, zero-level and/or wafer level packaging, parallel assembly processes, self-assembly processes, hermetic sealing, protective coatings.
  4. Mechanical and physical sensors
    Sensors and systems for inertial forces (accelerometers, inclinomters, gyroscopes, shock sensors), pressure, force, stress, resonant sensors and systems, acoustic sensors, position, flow sensors, magnetic sensors, optical sensors, thermal sensors.
  5. Chemical and bio sensors
    Chemical and biochemical sensors and systems, electrochemical sensors, potentiometry, amperometry, voltammetry, conductometric, enzyme based sensor, gas sensors, MEMS based gas sensors (micro-analytical instruments for gas detection)
  6. Micro fluidic & micro analysis devices and systems
    Lab-on-chip, micro-total-analysis systems, DNA and proteins systems, micro-PCR systems, cell handling, label free detection systems, fluidic devices, microchannel gas and liquid flows, electrokinetics, mixing, two-phase flows, suspension flows, droplet and bubble dynamics, flow separation and vortex dynamics, biomedical microsystems, implantable devices, drug delivery.
  7. Optical MEMS
    MEMS based photonic systems, integrated optics (lenses), micro mirrors and MEMS displays, diffraction gratings, switches, optical communication subsystems.
  8. RF-MEMS and Clocks
    Micro/nano components and subsystems for RF communications, filters (including BAWs, FBARs) and switches, MEMS oscillators, phase shifters, inductors and varactors, wave-guides, antennas, RF MEMS based systems (including integration of passives), MEMS micro wave components.
  9. Nanosensors and NEMS
    Carbon materials, carbon nanotubes, nanowires, molecular machinery, nanoactuators, nanoresonators, nanorobots; nanoelectronic devices with sensing applications, nanostructure integration, interfaces and packaging.
  10. Micro-Actuators
    Micromotors, electrostatic actuators, electromagnetic, piezoelectric actuators, phase change actuators, pumps, valves, nozzles, active microchannels, pumps and valves, springs and grippers, beam and membrane actuators, MEMS-based robotics.
  11. Micro power generation
    Energy and PowerMEMS, miniaturized fuel cells (including bio fuel cells), power generators, energy harvesters and scavengers (including solar, thermal and mechanical devices), microturbines, thrusters.
  12. Microsystems and sensor networks
    New approaches to sensor data fusion, ultra low-power sensor, electronics and communication design, telemetry systems and implantable monitoring systems, RF and inductive powering for sensor and actuator systems, wireless sensor networks, autonomous microsystem and sensor systems.
  13. Applications
    Sensor systems, test and operation of devices in real environments, application solving, sensor solutions for a specific application, evaluation of sensing and microsystem technologies for an application.
